Instructional Design
Innovative & effective learning experiences
I take pride in producing instructional experiences that are user-friendly, interactive, accessible, sustainable, and founded on adult learning theories. With historically diverse work and education experience, I bring perspective, solutions and creativity to the team. My preferred LMS is Canvas and consider myself an expert level. However, I have experience with other LMS hosts including my most recent experience being in Brightspace. I would love to discuss these as well as new opportunities within Instructional Design.
Course Templates
I have designed and developed course templates for multiple institutions. From the roots of the mood board design (style guide concepts, font, colors, banners, icons) to the implementation of functioning consistent items. These templates include all of the applicable pieces - homepages, buttons, content pages, assignment pages, etc.
I have developed a wide array of templates including orientations, completions, content courses, trainings, assignments, and assessments.
Interactives
I enjoy taking big blocks of content and breaking it up into interactive, engaging, accessible activities that enhance the learning experience. I have an expertise level of experience with LMS-native interactive (knowledge checks, accordions, flash cards, etc.) as well as interactive developed in independent programs such as H5P activities, videos, quizzes, audio, infographics, slideshows, clickable images, etc
Accessibility
For my current enterprise, I developed an Accessibility Resources project that has since been implemented at various institutions and nationally recognized. I spent a great deal of time at USU working with the Disability Resource Center and Accessibility Director to learn about and address learning solutions that are accessible to all learners. This is an area of instructional design that I take great pride in being knowledgeable and experiences in.
User Interface
One of the keystone pieces of my graduate studies and graduate internship was user experience/interface research. I spent countless hours gathering this feedback and research through observations, interviews, surveys, and many other means in order to assess usability and conduct implementation based off of my findings.
Assessment
I have worked with dozens of SMEs in order to develop hundreds of assessments with a variety of approaches. I have experience with ungraded and graded assignments and quizzes, quick checks, self checks, course and module quizzes, program assessments, and national certification exams.
Sustainability
I have developed courses and programs for both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. I am an expert and being aware of and addressing the needs of instructors and learners in both circumstances. I keep resources and realities in mind when developing content that may or may not have facilitators as well as content that can be relevant through little maintenance.
